GENERAL INFORMATION:

Union Ink's PRPL Series Tru-Tone Plastisol Ink is comprised of pure, transparent basic colors to be used to produce 4-color process images. Tru-Tone plastisols are designed for direct, wet-on-wet printing.

SCREEN FABRICS:

305-355T plain weave monofilament polyester screen meshs are recommended for best results. Using coarser meshes will likely result in increased ink deposits and stronger color shades. If you are using retensionable frames, adjust the mesh tension to at least 25 Newtons/cm. Be sure that all screens are at the same tension.

STENCILS:

Direct Emulsion Stencils are recommended. Excellent results have been reported with photo-polymer emulsions and solvent resistant emulsions such as Union Ink's UNICOL 2000 and INMARCOL-R. There has been a report that when using a water resistant type of emulsion, the screen reclamation may be more difficult.

MODIFYING THE INK:

The PRPL Series Tru-Tone plastisols are supplied ready-for-use direct from the can. Any modification to these inks can have an adverse effect on their performance. If necessary, only reduce with small amounts of Reducer/Detackifier. Also, due to the variations among color separations, the PRPL-9080 Clear Base can be used when necessary to reduce color concentrations.

PRINTING:

To maintain the original shades, the Tru-Tone plastisol colors should only be printed onto white grounds. The color shades will be altered if printed on colored fabrics. CURING: Plastisol inks will not air dry and must be heat cured. The printed image will be fully cured when the entire ink deposit reaches 300F (149C). Curing can be accomplished with the use of a conveyor dryer, flash curing unit, or simple infrared heat source. WASH-UP: Union Ink's biodegradable WASH-9900 Skreen Kleen or mineral spirits are recommended.

STORAGE:

Store plastisols at room temperature. Prolonged exposure to high temperature will cause the gelation reaction to start.

WASHABILITY:

Excellent. Dry cleaning is not recommended. Imprinted parts of garments should not be ironed.

CAUTION:

Always pre-test for adhesion, crocking, opacity, washability and specific requirements. See current price list for color range and product codes.
